BLOGGER TRIP: Disney African-American Mom Blogger Mixer

wdwbloggerDisney is truly a leader in reaching out to black mothers. In October 2008 Disney hosted ten of us for a Mom Blogger Mixer. We had such a wonderful time. I will forever be a Disney fan!

I am such a blessed and lucky person! I was privileged to be a part of the first and second Walt Disney World Mom Blogger Mixers, the first in April and the second one this past fall.

Walt Disney World truly cares about the people who visit their parks and it shows because they believe in speaking one-on-one with real moms to see how they can improve their parks, accommodations, and services. Not only did we get to enjoy the parks, amazing restaurants, and entertainment we also got to speak with execs in short pow-wow sessions about our feelings about Walt Disney World. I absolutely loved the strategy sessions! Wish we could have talked longer.

Friday through Sunday I finally met in real life so many moms I have been reading for years and others who I have been reading for a short period of time including:

Yolanda from Ebony Mommy
Tanyetta from Days Like These
Renee from Cutie Booty Cakes
Michele from Integrated Mother
Nadia from Mama Law
Kim from Mom in the City
Felicia from Reign of the Girl Child
Kristina from Mom on the Rise
Mel from Mel, a Dramatic Mommy

Special thanks to Maria Bailey of BSM Media, who is so awesome and such a fabulous person! Thank you to all of the wonderful people at Disney including Michelle Baumann and Leann, Annette, Super Sarah (and she was super!), Laura (who knows everything you ever need to know about Disney), Angel, and all of the wonderful Disney execs who treated us like real VIPs and cared very much about what we had to share. Thank you so much for treating us to a fabulous weekend. And above all else, thank you for caring about what diverse mothers feel about Disney. You totally “get it” and that makes us feel special.

By the way, Kim from Mom in the City has a wonderful post about our first night at Disney. Check out her pictures. They’re amazing.
